BIOGRAPHY

I graduated from the University of Salford in 2008 being awarded a First Class honours degree in Applied Sport Science. Since then I have been awarded the title of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Sport Psychology in 2013 from the University of Salford.

 

I am currently working at Leeds Trinity University with responsibility for the delivery of Sport Psychology and Coaching subjects. Previous to this I was based at the University of Salford with its highly regarded Sport Science and Sports Rehabilitation focus. I have recently completed my PhD examining the use of Sport Psychology within Strength and Conditioning training and have presented findings at international science conventions and in research publications.

 

​I am currently module leader for applied sport psychology at Leeds Trinity University and have previously been a member of the teaching staff for Sport Psychology as part of the Applied Sport Science degrees at the University of Salford. Further to this evidencing my ability to teach I have been awarded the status of Fellow of Higher Education Academy.​

 

 

I am accredited by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) to provide psychological support in enhancing sport performance. For more details about BASES please click the here.

 

 

I have had success and subsequent recommendations working with a range of athletes and teams from sporting disciplines.​​These have included supporting a current British Champion martial artist to national success, a junior Great Britain fencer, as well as supporting an athlete’s return to competitive rugby after career threatening injury. ​

 

Working within a team setting I have provided Mental Training support to the Salford City Reds Rugby League Club though the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence. For the past two years I have also been working closely with the England Lacrosse academy providing support such as game preparation strategies.​In addition to this in 2013 I took the position of Head of Psychology provision at Rochdale AFC Academy.

 

Away from work I have had success competing in Clay Target Shooting events. In addition to this I regularly play tennis and take part in events such as the Bupa Manchester 10k run. ​
